Hi, Anybody in France on Sat 1st May, (MayDay) be prepared on not finding much open. Unlike Religous bank hols they do take this one much more serious.

Hi

Well I dont think we will notice seeing as they seem to spend most of the day shut anyway but thanks for the heads up.

Yes but sadly it's slowly changing.:( But the French still make time for family life and long may it continue.:)
Just like to bring it to anyones attention who may be in France next weekend that the bank holiday is on the Saturday and not as in the UK on Monday.
Other bank holidays in May are the 8th,13th,and the 23rd which is a Sunday anyway.

Same in Spain ALL shops will be closed but petrol stations will be open.Just as well as we are leaving for UK on Sat:D

The same goes on Sat 1st May for Belgium.
Note also that Friday 30 April is a bank holiday in Holland: 'Koninginnedag",
1st May is almost a normal Saturday there.
