Brittany

Brittany is great for us MH'rs. Almost every town or village has some aire or parking place and wilding is not too difficult at most places. Finistere is really the end .

Here's a guide that you can download POIs onto TomTom, Garmin etc HERE

These people have a DVD available at sensible money HERE It is also available to download directly off their website - somewhere :D but my command of French isn't good enough to find it

Hi Phil.

We found a nice wild camping spot next to a beach just outside Plougasnou (North Brittany). See here:

http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=48.701384,-3.786893&spn=0.012661,0.028925&z=15

If you zoom in, we stopped towards the right hand end where the parking area widens out so we could park front on to the beach. We stayed 2 nights and although its on the road we didn't find it too busy or noisey.

If I remember right there was a carpark/aire with facilities (water and waste dump) in Plougasnou itself.

Thanks

Thanks guys, will give all your suggestion a look.
We will be heading for Mesquer/Quimiac for a festival on the first weekend of july and then into the centre of france to Saint Chartiers for another festival. We want to spend as much time on the beach as poss so good sites are a must.
In Mesquer there is a lovely beach shown in the pic above on the first post, there is a GREAT wildcat campsite just behinfd the beach.
Well worth checking if you are down that way.

We went to Saint Chartier years ago - found it by accident. It was a great traditional music festival, I remember the camping being totally disorganised, but free! A few fields were allocated and it was basically a free-for-all, fortunately we found the one nearest the village centre and parked up next to another British van who filled us in on the festival details.

I guess it's a bit more organised now?

Hi Andy, festivals are never all that organised  some just look like they are.:)

Saint Chartier

I think that the St Chartier fest is much better organised these days.I have not been to this fest but have heard great things about it.
If you are into a gentle and fun break and are in France over the middle of July it's well worth a visit especially if you have kids or want to get into playing some folk music...very relaxing.

France is nice and relaxing..........
but prices are well on the rise and getting more expensive..........

I live in Brittany and would advise you don't call them French, they're Breton!,most of them hate Parisiens, you will have no trouble finding free places but for around 10Euros most villages offer proper sites with facilities.

call them Bretons !

There are so many 'minorities' in France who stand up for their idendity (and don't get it): the Bretons, Languedoc's, Alsacians, Flemish, Corsicans....
(you don't call a Scot, Welsh, Irish English ?) or in Belgium: Walloon and Flemish
And yes Brittany is a most motorhome friendy region (+ beautifull). We sure love it.
