hi looking to holiday in france this summer, this will be our first trip to france and would be great if anyone could give us any help on useing aires.we are looking for some sun shine nice aires by rivers & coast would be good.

There are loads of threads on here about Aires if you search around. Here is one I found at random http://www.wildcamping.co.uk/forums/general-chat/10360-all-aires.html

We might be able to help more with specific Aires if you can give us some idea of where you might be going. France is massive and has thousands of Aires. They are fantastic though (well a lot of them are).

A starter for ten would be to order the All the Aires book from Vicarous books as well as getting to grips with this site. CAMPINGCAR-INFOS

If you have time, read our blog. There is loads of info on France and pictures of Aires, many of which are by rivers, lakes or the sea. Hank the Tank Motorhome website

a tip on using french aires where you have to pay; ask the french campers what time the guy comes round for the money,if you can't spek french just watch them, they'll all decide to walk their dogs at the same time, this is the time to go down the bar for an hour.

Selection of tap connectors & large watering can, Long hook up lead + doubler for this. Also one of these to connect Uk propane to french bottle Propane Pol to Butane Adaptor and you can get gas from Intermarch 1euro desposit on bottle

Do this often enough and they will install rising bollards as happened at Le Treport..........

We go over there quite often purchase the Aire guide book from any good book shop in France or Vicacious books over here.
If you dont want to venture far turn right out of Calais and follow the coast road D940 last year we spent 10 days travelling this road and only got to LeTouquet(excellent aire x2 there 9 euros a night) there are a number of carparks on this coast road that you can park in overnight but height barriers are creeping in several aires at reasonable prices campsites can be a bit dear. We ended up spending £33 for overnight fees in 10 days and were never more than a couple of hundred yards from the beach

Cemetery car parks in France are always a good spot for a night just be up early in case of a funeral, Theres one in Sandgate right opposite the beach

Yes. Its not like its expensive! There are plenty of free Aires if you do wish to avoid the ones that cost a few euros.
