Forum rules ???

Hi, A few improvements coming to wild camping and forum rules is one.
The forums are 95% a nice place to be, but sometimes there is spam, abuse, and other unwanted things posted.
As to now the only rule is no abuse, which with the growing amount of members wild camping has is very vague.
I'm sure you will agree this would make your reading experience far more pleasureable.
As the forums is for you I would like to hear what you think your new forum rules should be.
What you want to and what you don't want to see.
All suggestions will be taken into consideration and some I am sure will be used.
So any rule suggestions below please
Tes.

The new rant & rave forum is a good idea.Hopefully it will stop people posting unwanted posts on what should be information forums.
There are forums for general chat and fun & games, but still what starts off as information (wild camping spots) end up with unwanted chatter.

I would second that,i think we are all grown ups and grown up enough to have a debate and to agree to disagree. At the end of it all wouldnt the world be a poorer place without a heated debate,on or off this forum.
If anyone takes any notice,i dont know, but it has long been held the belief that the site worked well and was a draw for folks to come to this site.It was a fun place to come to.The bicycle was never broken so why fix it:confused:

Agreed. No written rules (just common sense) and a moderator with a big stick prepared to use it when things get a bit heated and out of hand.

I disagree rafiki and coolasluck.

AJ likes a bit of thrashing. Especially if it is a young lady wielding the stick.:D

Its a free country, give him a fair crack of the whip.

Im going to thank you maingate, thanking you because that was indeed a usefull post.;)

And it was neither a rant nor an all night thingum:confused: ehmm, rave.:p

The trouble is 'rules are there to be broken', keep things as they are then the new rules would never be broken.

follow a good old saying .........if it aint broke dont fix it

As long as it isn't malicious & offensive (or illegal). If maybe a thread gets out of hand & too personal then a reminder that most of us are friendly & lifes to short for a vendetta.

Use of smilies :eek: (maybe a few more are needed) to show that the post isn't meant to be taken literally. Some might seem offensive to new members or visitors without knowing that it's just harmless banter.

As said I think most of the prolific posters enjoy a bit of banter & wouldn't like the site to change too much, many threads do drift off topic but is that a bad thing  if it was just a case of somebody asking a question then getting an answer it would be really dull, I think that when it does drift off topic it then keeps the thread active & it eventually gets answered.

BTW wasn't the weekend fantastic, summer decided to arrive just in time for the daughters wedding at Llandudno & the umbrellas she had were great for keeping the sun off us for the pictures on the front................ sorry.;)

I wasn't thinking of lots of rules or harsh rules.
Here are the one's I am thinking about currently, most of which is common sense.

1)No pornography what so ever. This site does not have an age limit and as such a child could access any content.
2)No Abuse. This means... Post Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libellous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable.
3)If you post something about another member they can contact a moderator and request it edited/deleted. If the post is a long post, only the part about the other person will be edited. Something thats borderline between banter and abuse will be in this catorgory, You decide.
4)There is a forum made just for rants and raves, any post on any other forum will be deleted/edited and the member will be pointed to the rants and raves post to have their vent.

No harsh rules, and nothing thats not really being done already.
These are here really to protect you so if there is conflict it can be sorted out quikily and responsibly.

So now you have a better idea of the forum rules I have been thinking of what do you think?
