Hi folks
anyone else been unable to open forum
the last two days,or was it a fault at my end?

We must have been typing at the same time. No it was not your fault some nasty person got into the server. But Phil has sorted it out now thank goodness.. There are some weird people out there.

Site has been down for a couple of days, something about a server changeover.

Hi,

The server became unstable on tuesday evening after several weeks of hacking attempts.
I decided to move the site onto a Cloud Hosting solution (self healing system) and to have a managed hardware firewall (stops some of the attacks getting to the server). I have also changed the operating system the server runs and the hosting software to the latest systems.

The site was back online Wednesday afternoon but took a little while for the DNS changes to propagate.

Sorry for the downtime

Bet its the same prats that used to like to run a key down the side of new cars. Too much like hard work now when they can sit at home and see what they can wreck on the internet.

Why on earth would anyone want to "hack" a minor interest website? It's not as if it was a pron site 'cos I know that the Womens Lib groups like to have a go at them.
There is no financial info here that would be of use and it is not as if Phil keeps state secrets on here, is it?
So where is the purpose? If it was Zone Alarm. AVG or even Microsoft I could understand the challenge but to take a "pop" at sites like this seems pretty pathetic
 
I do not think the hackers were after wildcamping, it looks more likely they were after the server.
The old server had a 1000mb connection to the internet and no hardware firewall, making it perfect for cyber terrorism! It looks like they were going to use it to attack other servers.

Apparently since the wikileaks thing there has been a big increase in server hijacks. Luckly this one was caught.

I do not know this for definate. But I honestly do not think it is related to this website.
