When your nuts are green prick them and leave them to turn black, then pickle them-lovely with cold meats especially cold rare roast beef on Boxing day.

Leave your nuts to turn ,jeez teens in my eyes at the thought o black yins:scared::scared::scared::scared:

No pomegranates to pick this year...too dry a summer again.
But we are picking ripe, juicy figs from the tree that overhangs the lane.

We have to limit ourselves to only 3 each, per day....

Neither of us are up to doing a fast sprint.

''a woman , a dog and a walnut tree
the harder you beat them , the better they be !''

i gave a walnut tree a thorough thrashing in the 70's , lovely crop that year. daresn't try on dogs or women as they can give you a nasty bite

all the novels use walnut juice to colour skin i can vouch for its effectiveness, the walnut is similar to a conker encased in a fleshy skin a spiral cut opens them out easily i did about 60 yesterday and now look like a heavy smoker with almost black stain on my thumb & two fingers,

I walked to our nearest shop on Thursday. Half of the walk is alongside the Monnow & then along the lane.
I came back with a bag full of blackberries, a big handful of mushrooms & a pocket full of conkers. I picked up the apple windfalls when I got home & made a pie with some pastry out of the freezer with a sell by date of 2012.
:tongue::tongue::tongue:

Last time we were in France we came back with loads of big fat chestnuts.

I love foraging.
Sea kale on the shore. ( be careful I think some may be protected.)
also samphire.
Wild plums in August.
Blackberries of course, and if you are very lucky a wild damson tree.
At a national trust property recently they had a large orchard with all the apples dropping on the ground. I picked up two bags of different varieties - fallen is for free as far as I am concerned.
I have also found quite a lot of wild rocket around even in England.

all good fun, but I am wary of mushrooms two ladies died eating the wrong ones.

that time of the year with apples....although not foraging, folks round here put baskets.boxes of

apples outside of their drives with notice free for the taking......
.....
had an abundance of large juicy blackberries in the garden this year......

dont forget the pine cones for christmas decorations......along with the holly which if you are lucky can be found ........just trimming a large holly bush in the garden.....should have saved it for later....then folks could have helped themseves to it.....

.

I tried foraging

In the Bank..but got arrested !

Strange that all Banks forage on us !

Or is it Politicians .....

We have been to braganca on the aire at the foot of the castle and seen this many times.
Our favourite place is the aire not far outside santander where the elephants roam in the national park, we have picked figs, kiwi, mushrooms, chestnuts, walnuts, bay, and various herbs .
We will be there on the 17th october

But as a proper answer

Today
My wife "foraged" mango leaves for a soup
She also forages "Patwan" again for soup

I think in both cases a bit like nettle soup
