Hi all. Just bought a motorhome with a lot of storage and wondered if anyone can recommend a place to get folding bikes? Not that we will use them a lot and I dont want carbon fibre ££££ bikes just a decent couple of bikes for me and the missus.

Cheers

We have a couple byocycle pedal assist cycles that fold ,great cycle bit costly ,don’t need to fold them as the van we have now has a big garage

You could try Halfords or Decathlon for reasonably priced folding bikes, but for the best I would recommend Bromptons. They take up little space and are great bikes.
We have 2, they have been used on boats and motorhomes and are easy to ride and reliable, and last well.
Ours are both 29 years old and still look and work as new.
Our latest van has a bike rack on the back so we now use full size bikes and I will be selling our Bromptons in a few weeks when we visit the UK.

I struggled on hills and in headwinds with a standard 3 speed Brompton that I hired as the gearing seemed too high. Also noted that the 16” wheels offer little momentum when cruising along so you are constantly peddling. I do own a 20” wheeled folding bike and this definitely rolls along better than the Brompton I tried. And the gears are better for hill climbing. Would agree that the Brompton is a very compact folder if storage is a premium. What type of cycling would you plan on doing? Flat only on calm days, or undulating and hilly in all weathers? If considering a Brompton would suggest look at a 6 speed with -12% and try before you buy.
