Britain is a small island with a large population. If you promote wild camping too heavily you'll see more of a backlash from the authorities.
We're already seeing more parking restrictions on sea fronts aimed at motorhomes, more height barriers and more overnight parking bans.
I'd personally rather see a more natural development rather than focussed marketing. If it were Australia, the US or France, I'd probably agree with you but given the geographical contraints, I think we have to be more careful as a group.
