I have just ordered a floe drain down system for my chausson 510.
It only cost £35 and I reckon I can fit it myself, but if I don’t feel confident enough I will have it fitted by the dealer.
I have watched a couple of videos on YouTube and this seems like a worthwhile thing to do.

Any opinions or help fitting it would be much appreciated.

I ordered the kit suitable for European Motorhomes and caravans.

Thank you.

Yes good idea and one I have always advocated blown air on here.

I use a 24 litre air compressor to blow air and it works really well,

far, far easier than doing repairs.

The only additional thing to consider is things like sink waste traps that might hold water and you treat those with car antifreeze.

I have always used a compressor too especially when I was working on vans, One little tip take a plastic milk bottle slice the end off and hold it over the tap when you are blowing through otherwise water everywhere !.

I always take the shower head off, then blow through when re commissioning dip the head in some Milton or a weak bleach removes any bugs (Legionairres) that may lurk

I used an eggcup full of antifreeze or screenwash too down sink traps however I have read it can be corrosive to seals. albeit I never had an issue

This system involves fitting a shut of valve to the tank, then pressurising the water system to 15psi.

I will have to fit the shutt of valve and pressure valve to cold water piping for this system to work.

It’s manufactured by floe.

It is just push fit plumbing and quite easy, I am about to do my third installation, the main area to look at is to get the cut off valve and air inlet as close to the tank take off as you can. When I fitted the system to the Nexxo I also had to drill a hole in the wall of the locker in which the tank is located as there wasn't enough space for the air valve fitting but again it wasn't a difficult job.
The old mantra of measure twice and cut once comes into play but in this instance it is looking at the installation and working out what is best for your situation, not always easy when you aren't familiar with all the bits but remember that most dealerships aren't familiar with the floe system and probably won't take as much care as you will.

My best tip would be to lay the fittings out on the table or workbench in the order they have to fit so you can get your head around which way they fit when you have your head and hands in an awkward position in the van.

Good luck which ever way you go, it is a good system that works well even if it is a tad expensive.

Many thanks I can see I may have similar problems as my tank and pump are not readily available being boxed in under a seat. But as you say I will watch the dvd they supply and take my time installing the system.

Thanks again.

Blowing air

I used to blow through the miles of contorted pipes in our old 21m Dutch barge using a £10 manual fender/airbed pump and a rubber tap connector. Worked just fine, no problems in 15 years, cost peanuts.

Blow through won't work because of vents on the tank. The tank must be isolated and the equipment fitted to the cold water supply. Caravans with external tanks can be done that way, by simply connecting on the the water inlet.

Could you not just block the water tank vent while you blow the water through the pipes ?

A valve is supplied as part of the kit to cut off the tank.
You then pressurise the system with a foot or bycicle pump to 15 psi.
Tests have proven this to be more effective than blowing through.
