Have just got this off Orange .fr. Was thinking of anybody heading in that direction, and of course the poor devils caught up in it.
Also, last week there was bad flooding in the Lot.
We've been having some horrendous storms here but thankfully nothing this bad.

The poor s*ds usually have to contend with Forest fires at this time of year

Brings back memories of our floods in the summer of 2007.

Lets hope there is no more loss of life.

Sorry to say that the loss of life is now 19. mostly among the elderly.

LUKAS Meteo France. These floods are "exceptional" and must go back to 1827 to find one of such magnitude.
More rain is forcast tonight.

If var IS Already Known in the past for floods, Draguignan HAD Been spared so far. Michel Delprat, Retired 74 years, Said Anything AND HAD never seen anything like it. Carried away by a Raging river, I saw myself die. Two Young People Have a broom, They saved my life, 'he says, Hailing the great boost of "Solidarity" that runs the district.
At least someone had a happy ending.

The floods are now being reported on Sky News.

Looking at the France meteo the weather is set to improve towards the weekend, with the best in the north. You"re right to give the Var a miss as it looks like a big clean up operation.

To get the latesst on the weather in France try this link www.meteo.fr

The Languedoc Region northwest of Montpelier which takes in the southern Massif Central & the Cevennes is a stunning area.

Hope all goes well.

The area south of Montpelier along the canal du midi should be safe from floodiig. We went there after being flooded out near Perpignon 5 years ago .Good luck.

Having driven to Spain week in and week out for several years I can sure vouch to the fact that some of these rain storms and floods just seem to come out of nowhere and it is not very funny for the local inhabitants.:(
Just to lighten things up, I was once travelling in a convoy of 3 trucks and as we approached a village that was well known to us as there was a good restaurant there, we came round a bend and the road was closed and completely flooded:eek:
We looked at the situation and decided that we could go through with trucks:), The funny thing was that a car decided to follow:eek:, The water came up to the top of our tyres and guess what?;) The car did not make it:D:D
We just could not believe that someone could be so stupid:eek::D
