What was wrong with the planning authority allowing the site to be on a flood plain? Or is it owned by a local councillor?:mad2:

Loved this comment on one of the news sites:

Hey Don't Knock Wales. No Hospital parking charges. No presciption charges No hose pipe bans No congesstion charges Severn bridge you pay to come in but its free to leave and they wave us goodbye after we spent our money there. They have it RIGHT not us ,Clean Air, views to kill for and ho yes Kathrine Jenkins..

Although they forgot to add: "And all paid for by the long suffering English".

I take your point (and in this part of the world there is a good chance that the sites are owned by local councillors!) but planning guidance allows for permission to be given for seasonal caravan parks in flood risk areas in the summer (ie normally when there is less chance of flooding!). Both the Aberystwyth sites are open to tourers from around Easter to October and so are seasonal. Climate change is probably more responsible than council corruption but whatever the reason, I hope that everybody gets out safely.

Just watching the pictures on BBC news and it looks terrible. I feel so sorry for the campers and the caravan residents and homeowners. Water is pouring out of the houses.

benefits of motorhomes

One benefit of wild camping near rivers - hear/see heavy rain, see water levels rising - move off quickly to a higher location.....?

We went to the brecons this last week, although we had some nice walks,we had the deluge from wednesday evening and it did not stop until we left wales yesterday afternoon(friday) which is when we decided to return home:(

Hope the weather bucks up for next month when we are visiting the snowdonia area.

I've been worrying all day whether any of our forum friends were caught up in the dreadful weather in Wales. It must have been so frightening. Apparently there have been a couple of flash floods today in North Yorkshire following thunderstorms.
I don't see anything to be gained by slagging off Wales. These things can happen anywhere, no matter how clever people consider themselves we are no match for the elements.

For all you folks who like to knock Wales.

twll din pob sais.

And tomorrow I'm off to Rhayader to piddle in your water. lol.

You have to use pee nowadays since you closed down the Felinfoel (spelling?) Brewery. It looked and tasted the same coming out in the toilet as when it went in in the Bar. :( That beer was commonly referred to as 'Feeling Foul Ale'.

That is the only thing I did not like about Wales. But you get a bonus point for Brains (no not you Morgan .... the beer).
