Flat Tyre

A CAUTIONARY TALE.
I JUST NOTICED I HAVE A FLAT REAR TYRE ON MY CON-TIKI. I REMOVED THE WHEEL AND TRIED TO FIND THE CAUSE, NAIL,GLASS, WALL DAMAGE ECT BUT NO LUCK SO I CRANKED UP MY COMPRESSOR AND STARTED TO INFLATE IT WITH THE INTENSION OF TYRE-BATHING IT.
NEVER GOT THAT FAR.
THE WHOLE OF THE VALVE CENTRE CAME OUT OF THE VALVE AT 45psi (IT RUNS AT 65psi) AND ABOUT 100mph!.
NOT THE VALVE CORE BUT THE WHOLE BRASS INSERT.
THE TYRE WAS FLAT IN 3 SECONDS.
ONLY LAST WEEKEND I WAS DOING 70mph ON FRENCH AUTOROUTES !!!!!
YOU MY SAY FIT TYRON BANDS. HIND-SIGHT IS WONDERFUL.
SO CHECK YOUR VALVES AT THE SAME TIME YOU CHECK YOUR PRESSURES, JUST GIVE THE BRASS ENDS A TUG AND TWIST. YOU,LL KNOW IF IT,S FAULTY.

would you believe it. the front's done the same thing!

Same thing happened to me, recently. Must be inferior made parts!!!

Good tip m8 one takes these tubeless valves for granted all the time.

My Brother Fits Tyres For A Living(he Fixes Mine For Free!)and Told Me He See's This Quite A Lot So Yeah, Dont Take 'em For Granted.
As I Found 2 Faulty I'm Having All 5 Done To Be Safe.
He Tells Me This Would Normaly Cost Around 10/15 Quid For The Lot But What Cost A Blowout.

Bolt in!

We use race/rally/competition bolt in valves, they are about £5 each but as said before... What price is peace of mind!?

Perished rubber valve stem

I had layed up a car for a few months - on restarting it I noticed a couple of tyres were soft. On trying to re-inflate them the valve stems tor right off, leaving the remainder inside the rim!
The tyres were under 3 years old at the time. I took the rims to have new valves fitted and asked the reason - asked by fitter "has it been outside?" Replied well they have been on a car . . . ??!
anyway seems valve stems perish if left - these were in a car port and had been left less than 6 months.
Worrying
