After having an issue with the skylight not properly opening for a couple of years I eventually decided to fix them. I started with the bathroom one and then did the main one. The initial symptoms were a clicking noise and gear slip, the handle had also snapped off a year or so ago and I had bought a new winder handle but not got round to fix it. I have uploaded a commentary with photos on YouTube to show the gearbox etc.
The skylight needs to be opened a bit so that the plastic pins attaching the hinge to the Perspex skylight can be removed using thin nosed pliers. The inner shrouding inside the motorhome just pushes down off plastic balls.The time consuming part is cleaning the spiral wires with a wire brush because they were dirty and the "hairs" are removed before packing with copper grease and reassembling.
