just returned from a few days away in the Green Goddess, pre-booked 2 nights on Fishery Creek, told lady on the phone it was a large camper, no problem she said, ex library bus, no problem she said, when we arrived i was told that her husband didn't like the look of the Goddess!!!!!!!!!!!!! not sure where her husband was because we never did get to meet him, I assume he was watching us on one of the cctv cameras.
So a debate ensued as to what defines a camper, I then produced my V5 registration which clearly states MOTOR CARAVAN, we were then allowed onsite, if it wasn't 4.45pm I would have said up yours and gone else where, now I know this is a favorite site with a few on here, but you must have shiney coachbuilt jobbies, coz anything out of the ordinary will have problems here, I think if we had not pre-booked we would have been refused.
I was intending to go to the Laughing heart meet in sept, might have to paint the old girl white, and stick a ELLDIS....... SPRITE.......... WAYFARE.......... 2010 sticker on her.
on a better note we found a great spot in portsmouth old town, council car park at cambers end, great pub The Bridge Inn, they even refund car park fee if you eat there, over night no problems, v quite, fishing fleet leave early and a lovely cafe round the corner, plus the fish market is nice.
So wild is best, maybe sites might introduce a no van over 3 years old rule, then the goverment will follow suit, that will be a sad day, but in the mean time we will continue driving our 30yo Dodge Motor caravan aroung the UK with smiles on our faces.
have fun
