we have rented a motorhome for our holiday in august 2009 and would love to receive any advice or tips.
we are looking at travelling up to scottish highlands, so any recommendations of campsites would be a great help.
hope to hear from anyone very soon:)

I'd also join the Camping and Caravanning club, the site at Channonry point is great for some Dolphin watching and also the club site at Loch Lomand.
Site at John o'Groats basic, but ok and we got to see Porpoise on the boat trip.

anyone wanting to see marine life-try wilding at catterine(on the pier if you want)and you will see seals..

Hi and welcome to the site.

A couple of the places with sites we have found and like after many years of touring around Scotland.

Glenmore on the Cairngorm ski road from Avimore.

Glen Nevis at the foot of Ben Nevis

Ardmir point north of Ullapool

If you do venture that far north one of our favorite spots of all:-

"DURNESS" where the west coast road makes a right turn as it meets the sea on the north coast.

Just a little note of caution, if you do intend to wild camp check with your hirer, as I have heard that some hirers do not permit overnighting anywhere other than "official" campsites.

Good for you for renting. It is noticeable how the Europeans are far more into this than we Brits. If you don't have loads of time to use a MH then it is probably a far better method than investing £000.s to leave it standing outside your house. ;)

Only done Scotland once several years ago and we did find loads of places to wildcamp - but it is good advice to check your hire company's rules and regs.

Take midgy spray!! The strongest you can find. They likely sell it in Scotland but they possibly also run out fast
