Hi,
Wandering around the backstreets of Europe we get used to seeing things on sale that are banned over here. Guns, knives, Samurai swords (why would anybody want a Samurai sword hanging over the fireplace?) Even saw a machine pistol on sale once in a garage just outside Pisa.
Anyway Andorra provided a first “for me” stun guns guaranteed to unleash 200,000 + volts at the press of a button. The shop was also selling mace & pepper sprays. Now call me old fashioned but in over 40 years of marriage I have never felt the need to resort to a stun gun, usually a good talking to calms her down. So who buys these things & why.

Hy Old un,

I have just noticed the ads Phil has put on the bottom of this page.

If he starts advertising the cufflinks in the top left hand corner of the pic then I shall
start having my suspicions about the nocturnal activities of a few members on this site.

Don't think Phil has anything to do with the ads - they come with the territory and are generated by "key" words in the text. A classic example of this is that in my home town there is a website set up by a group of people who are trying to stop Tesco setting up a store in the town. You've guessed it - all the ads generated promote Tesco!!!!!

in america you can get anything in wallmart from a tin of beans to a shotgun :confused: there are many shops sell (stun guns ) if i remember right they start at $50.right next to the big hunting knifes
i remember in one of the shops a couple of skinheads loading up with heaps of stunners & knifes (i would have loved to be there when they went through customs :rolleyes:

You should have seen what was available down in the market in Luanda, Angola.

Rambo would have filled his boots. In fact it was so bad, I could have been in Doncaster.:p

An AK47 was 20 to 25 US Dollars. If you stripped them down and did a mix and match it was 40 dollars. Russian pistols for 15 Dollars (Makarov), 50 Dollars for a Tokarev.

I did not enquire the price of RPG`s and heavy machine guns (I only had a 20 kg baggage allowance):D

Out in the bush you could pick up land mines for nowt. And I do mean pick up.;)

i wonder what would be the most intresting ad we could come up with ;);):D only trouble is we would have to make a post first i guess may not be acceptable some of them

Now when did I last see someone carrying pepper spray and an extending baton? must have been in school this afternoon...

Exactly the point I am making young maingate. What you could get in the old Soviet Union pre 1989 was nobodies business. The soldiers were worse culprits, flog you anything for a pair of Levi jeans. (I was there in 1970s) but in the European Union we live in relative harmony (Having kissed & made up in 1945) so why would anybody outside of Doncaster need this stuff. ? Paranoia mishaps’.

Dezi p.s. Is picking up landmines the reason you type with one finger ?

Brilliant! But its a bit worrying to think what you might have been doing to find it!

I suffer terribly from this phobia. I really don't think it is a matter to be joked about. It can cause terrible problems to those of us who suffer!:p
