I was thinking of buying one for wild meets where a camp fire would not be practical;), especially for winter nights when it gets dark around tea time.

This one comes with a grill:cool::)

Fire basket

Good idea in theory Lenny, but not really practical for storage you just can't beat a proper campfire;)Andy.

Would be good for some campsites that allow fires as long as they are not on the ground.
Runs out to get the welding gear out.

Looks like a good idea, no burnt patch on the ground and ash conveniently collected on the stand. Only reservations I would have is storage and having to wait for it to cool down before putting it away.

Brasero

Dockers in the harbour overhere used these things decades ago; they call it a 'brasero'. They used it to grill everyting which accidently fell between wall and ship. Containers made an end of this.(not that easy to stow a container on a brasero )
It certainy is the fastest way,(in Belgium), to get the firebrigade at your spot :D
Only it would be a big thing to stow away in a MH (unless you have an American RV with build-in pool, and slide-out winecellars and attics )

We use a washing machine drum, with the rear pulley reversed as a stand. the drum is stainless and full of holes it works a treat, you can put potatoes or other types of food wrapped in tin foil and placed around the rim.

Hey trikerman John
I use the same.... SS drum out of an old washing m/c that the lads at the council tip saved for me. Usually land it on a pile of stones, keep saying I'll fab some legs & an ash pan but never got round to it.
I wonder if the Doncaster meet campsite allows camp fires ?

Great Idea lads;) I noticed a scorched area at the farm where someone had a guy fawkes meet so I think a campfire may be a possibility, I,ll speak to the farmer tomorrow.

If you put the belt pulley and framework in reverse it makes it's own stand.

John.

Check out me new fire basket;), as suggested by Wints and Trikerman a while ago. I finally acquired an old washing machine and removed the drum today:rolleyes:,reversed the pulley for the stand and here we have it:cool:

Had a little practice with it and it works a treat, even cooked a bit of fish and a couple of taties wrapped in tinfoil and placed on the rim:)

It burned all afternoon and no ash on the patio so I,m well chuffed with it;)

fire basket

when we having the barby.can you do a broth on it .wifes still alive after eating your last one.

Hey Lenny
If you take an angle grinder to the top of the drum you can open it up a bit to get larger logs / planks of wood in it. like what I did !
