Been meaning to get around to it since we sold the Transit Jumbo ....

I was so delighted with the eber D2 we had in the Jumbo I decided to buy another D2 for the motorhome ....
Needless to say it sat in the loft since purchase ...
Anyway as today wasn't the most pleasant of days (and Christmas/new year escape is looming )I made a start by deciding where to fit it ....tried several locations requiring various amounts of pfaff before deciding to install it where the gas fire lives so it can blow into the existing ducting

removing the gas fire reveals a nice size space that only needs the hole in the floor enlarging slightly ....
All cabling into the wardrobe where the rest of the electrics live and where the 801 controller will be mounted on the outside wall .

Just need to order a dip pipe for the main tank and a CBE mount for the controller to match the water heater controls .

Should be nice and unobtrusive behind the original fire front .

Definitely one of THE best things I fitted to the Jumbo ...
Simple,reliable,controllable push button heat ....
I fitted one of the Maxpeedings diesel heaters. Once I found out that they never stop heating (at mini output) even when the van is up to temp, I removed and returned it.

Yes ...known issue and they can't be hacked easily (short of buying an afterburner controller) as the start up/shut down protocols can't be initiated with a simple 12v signal either sadly .

To be honest I much prefer the reliability (and lower fuel/electrical consumption) of a genuine eberspacher despite the extra expense ...
I don't like being cold one little bit .

Just make sure that you suck the incoming air from outside the fire box, as the thermostat is in the heater inlet. I have got an external temp sensor for mine.

It will draw cabin air back through the front of the original fire front (I've a piece of inlet duct to fun up to just behind it )
Though I can use the stat in the 801 controller if it needs to (just an extra wire to connect )

Finally got things finished ....
Issues getting the motivation to finish it through the cold snap we had ...
BUT all back together (just got to put tools away etc )

Works a treat through original blown air ducting ....
And nice and quiet too with inlet silencer
Original eber silencer AND one of these as a final stage ...

Almost inaudible from anywhere right next to the van where its mounted at rear most drivers side .
Temperature controls loverly with the 801 remote control stat mounted on the side of the wardrobe .

I've set the pick up pipe so the heater runs out at 1/4 of the main tank to leave plenty to get to a fuel station ,rather than empty the tank and leave us stranded .

There is one of those heaters in my van but never used it in ten years, must get a look at it in the coming year.
