Notice, over the last few weeks that the Ring Rscdc30 combined Solar controller and B2B charger had been 'nodding off' solar wise....
Working fine for a few days THEN would go to sleep and NOT kick in solar wise the next day.... (known issue Apparantly)
Would fire back up as soon as I knocked the battery trip out and then back in....

However things that don't work when they should irritate me (part of my wierd ocd)

SO I've removed solar duties from the Ring and assigned them to ANOTHER blue box in the wardrobe ;-)

Victron 100/30 MPPT solar controller has taken up residence....
And will hopefully performing and behaving itself....

I had exactly the same problem, and the same solution! I noticed a big improvement in solar charging.
unfortunately I had already recommended the ring charger to my son, and his developed the same problem, used the same solution. I will never buy another Ring product again

It's a shame.... Because in principle ( and when the Ring WAS working)
It's a great all in one solution...
Sadly let down by what appears to be, a software glitch that they cant/won't solve...

However the same as you I won't be purchasing anything else from them in the future.

Your MPPT Controller should feel at home with the other blue boxes.😜

Actually after a decent sunny day here today...
I'm not convinced the ring unit has been working properly for some time...

The batteries seem to have been drinking the amps today

Does it charge the starter batt, and I notice no mains in swap switch for sites which are wired the wrong way round, 20 lashes, very neat job I must say.

Switched off our 30 amp hour Victron B to B about a month ago. 230 watts of solar through a Victron controller charging a 200ah smart lithium battery (name of which might be considered naughty here I’m guessing following previous censures!) has been total overkill since then. Can’t believe I still sometimes worry about SOC after setting up this system, hasn’t been a single day when sufficient charge has been an issue (or predetermined total replenishment). Victron May cost more but their products speak for themselves. (Could a moderator please explain why I can freely extoll the virtues of expensive Victron equipment on the one hand, yet expect censure for mentioning a wild camping app free to download from the App Store?). Thanks.

My suspicion is that this convention is due to Phil as owner of wildcamping for motorhomes being a competitor of other, camp site prospecting, Web sites but he does not compete with battery or battery electronics companies. So he mind's about spreading info on some names but not others?

Thanks Derek, that seems like a totally logical explanation though I think the word ‘competitor’ somewhat ambitious personally in comparison to the ap that rhymes with ‘farts for spite’ 😉. Are you a moderator Derek?

In my sprinter I use a Sterling BM12123 to keep my chassis battery charged
This can upset my Ring rscdc30 when the chassis battery voltage rises enough to the point it’s ready to trip over to b2b mode, end result Solar is temporarily disabled And then restarts in a fairly continuous cycle.

easy fix, I set it to give priority to solar whenever we are parked up never been a problem ever since however it is a faff having to keep changing the settings.

I would have loved to have bought the excellent Renogy dcc50s rather than the Ring but the Renogy is let down by a low voc of only 25v and was not suited to my 300w panels.

No that was just what I imagine is the way it works. I can guess what app you mean so I wonder what actual advantage Phil gets from the policing. If you are lacking some info you google, you don't search forums.
