Had a picture & warning from Countrywide of an accident when filling free standing gas bottles at their pumps. The notice was worded to say you are not to fill free standing bottles. I called them just to be sure as I have a Alugas refillable bottle & I was told that as long as the filler was a permanent attatchment it wasn't a problem. The warning was meant for the type of adapter from ebay to fill the regular propane bottles without the 80% cut off (got one of these as well but I always weigh the bottle & refill no more than 80% capacity)
Some of the Countrywide filling pumps are just standalone (not by any outlet/garage) which you use a special key & code they provide you with so I don't see how they can enforce any policy about filling bottles. Outlets are limited but if you register with them for free & you tell them that you are using the gas for domestic use you pay the lower rate of vat. Currently their gas price is 43p a litre.
