Ferry Tickets Buy in France???

Intend to go to France the beginning of October and coming back end of November. Propose to buy outward ticket in UK but how easy is it to purchase return in France. Have used internet from MacDonalds before so intend to book that way

Can't say for certain about France but returning from Santander to Plymouth in April would have cost over £100 more at the port for a 6mtr. van.

Phoned my son in UK and he booked and paid phoning me back with Booking Ref. All done in 15 mins and £100 extra to spend.

Probably could have booked via Brittany Ferries UK on the net myself but couldn't get a reliable connection - suppose I could have phoned them myself!

We have done this in the past, I had all the ferry companies uk phone numbers (the regional not the 0845 ones) when we were thinking of coming home we went up to Cap Gris Nez as we knew we could get a O2 mobile signal there & I just rang around the different ferries to see what the best deal was. Some want you to give a specific date/time but we found Sea France the best to use. I asked for the cheapest fare back to UK in the next week & in 2007 it cost us £30 one way for the next day.

If you know when you intend to return it is still probably cheaper to book in advance. We tend to use eurotunnel & paying with Tesco clubcard vouchers, that way it only costs a quarter of the full price & if you book far enough in advance you get the cheapest rate.

If money no object you can just turn up at the port and buy a ticket. We have had to do this in the past due to emergency at home and were able to get on the next ferry. Otherwise we have gone online at Macadoodies in France and booked.

We always just turn up at port and purchase a day return. It is much cheaper this way.

Hi

How do you manage not to get a charge against your credit card for balance of one-way fare for not using return half?

When I used to repatriate hire cars (both ways) they caught me out every whichways!!!!

Even if you pay cash they remember your registration number the next time you use their ferry.
