Has anybody fitted a cooling fan / Fans in vents to the fridge of a Kontiki 645 2004 ? It looks like there is not enough room but I might be wrong.

I use computer vent fans and have never had a problem squeezing them into dometic vents

Yes I know what you are saying but If somebody has done it it would be nice to know what type of fan they used as I stated there is not alot of room and I don't have time to mess about, by taking off the bottom vent while parked up helps.

As Mastodon said, just use cooling fans for a PC - they run off 12v DC and can easily be bought on eBay ...

They have fixing holes as well, so you can bolt them straight onto a bracket set back, or possibly immediately behind the top vent cover though there's a risk they'll get wet there.

You need to have a little heat sensitive solenoid fitted onto the fridge cooling fins - usually (well for Dometic fridges) set to power up the fan when the fins reach 65C.

Any small 12V fan does the job.

Usually if you need the fan it means that the fitting of the fridge has not been done according to the makers directions, missing tinwork at the rear of the fridge being the most common - the tinwork is designed to make the air flow over the baffles. If you goto Making Fridges Work - Part II - Articles - Caravan and Motorhome Books there is a lot of really good info.

If you get the fan from a PC PSU they frequently have a thyristor circuit to vary speed with temperature. The fans are about 28mm thick and you can use the mounting holes to zip tie them to the cooling fin array behind the upper vent.
