Im about to get a new axle on my Kontiki and Im sick of worrying about stuff breaking or being overweight (me and the van)

Do you think this will have enough payload for our scooter and my beer?

Do you reckon they will do a good deal on the kontiki

Will it fit on the drive and will it be accepted on a CC CL?

Good luck with the axle Barry. what you doing with the old one, why not get it repaired and sell it on. If not i'll give ya a tenner for it.:D:D

Thanks. Actually I hadnt thought of that. I assumed the Garage would just bin it. Is it worth something then?

If they have any sense they would repair it and sell it via one of the breaker websites or maybe they will have a partex deal with alko on the new one.

Ill ask Mark but hang on a mo. If its possible to repair it why havent they just erm, repaired it?

As you know Im a bit dim when it comes to stuff like this so I just go on what you lot and the garage tell me.

Well maybe its not repairable,
Part-ex is quite normal with large parts but it does not mean they owe you money as it should have already been included in the cost of your new axle if they have done a part ex with the supplier.

And if they have not done a part ex deal they should give it back to you, it belongs to you. They may offer to "dispose" of it for you to save you the trouble, but if it is worth something they should know. What was wrong with it, did they say?

We reckon the leaf springs in it have snapped, the vans 2 inches lower than it should be and there were some pretty loud bangs last summer.

Actually it should be in by now, I will give em a ring!

if it`s leaf springs.
then you dont need a new axel,
just some springs.

I think its one big set of leaf springs that go across the entire axle in the old Alko Chassis so according to Alko the whole axle has to be replaced but in the new one Im getting with the higher payload it has indivudual torsion bars which can be replaced individually if they go apparently. Who knows. I just do what Im told.

I asked about the old axle and they said you can have it if you like. I just told em to stick in the scrap skip towards the Christmas booze up.

Cant be worth more than 30 quid scrap and I cant be bothered lumping it around to a scrap yard.
