I’m thinking of of fitting one of these to my grey and fresh water tanks. Has anyone done so and found them useful?

I cannot answer your question directly. I got as far as purchasing the value. You want the normally closed one so it only needs power to open. I haven’t got round to fitting it as it is quite heavy and there was no easy way to mount it on my van. Given its weight, i wanted to ensure it had good support either side. I was also considering putting in a new outlet or T fitting so the current manual one was still available if the electric one failed.

I will report back when ive fitted it, probably a few weeks on from now. I can see that will need support so I intend making a bracket for it to sit on.

Fitted this to my self build in 2019.....Works every time.... Six years extreme use.
Fitted tee piece with hand operated valve at van cill, and motorised valve under centre of vehicle.
The valve I purchased had reduced current consumption when held open.

I’d be interested to see pictures of brackets made to support this valve when available.

I fitted a domestic 240v central heating zone valve to the outlet of the water storage tank to make draining down easier because the manual valve was really diffficult to get to. It obviously needs plugging into a mains socket to work but that's easy when you've got an inverter onboard and of course this way there's no danger of accidentally working a switch and dumping all the drinking water. It's been dead reliable for several years. Ours is mounted 'indoors' though so no need to worry about road spray etc.

A few pics..... I had forgotten that I had protected the valve in a Kreg screw box.....no bracket.

Saw some pictures recently where somebody had fitted ball type drain valves on both grey and fresh water tanks together with a small camera so he could position himself over drains accurately, Exwindsurfer has one fitted to his grey tank if I recall correctly.
