European standards

Can the b eurocrats not leave alone.
part of the pleasure of motor homes etc. is the variety of models and variations of finishes and so on. Too much "cotton wooling" let us just get on and enjoy what we do in our own way.

Whilst everyone else calls them Motorhomes or Campervans the (less than) civil servants want to call our pride and joys "LAVS". I shall object on the basis that the acronym is offensive and does not meet the objectives of EU Directive EU2001/K211/3 Rev 5 Part A.

If I had a Euro MP I'd be writing him/her/it a stiff letter.

The EU will kill off motorhoming for sure, germany as new green taxes for motorhomes coming in soon, france may bring in road tax on them by 2010, and we all know about the weight limits coming in, ie the new cut off for HGV being 3.5 ton and not 7.5 ton as before in the uk, all so along with the HGV cut of france is bring in heath checks for drivers 65 or over.
I feel sure that new taxes on weigh and co2 imissions will kill off many older motorhomes, and some new ones.
from 2010 italy is bring in on the spot fines of 800 euros for anyone driving a pre 1997 motor that is producing more co2 then it should, How long before other countries follow suit and we have the green police waiting for people to start their engines from cold so they can fine them for incorrect co2 immisions, I can just see it now, can,t you.
