European festivals

Being a big fan of european festivals I wonder if any of you have favourites you visit or have been to and liked it so much you want to return. Would like to hear about any tye of festival from tiny village music fetes to the bigger ones. Think I missed out on loads of stuff on my last travels. Personal favourite for me is a jazz festival in Coutance in June, brilliant week.

Depends what sort of music you like.

Many years ago we went to the traditional music festival at St Chartier in central France, didn't know anything about it just saw the posters when we were passing through. Loved it!

When we went there was not much in the way of organised camping, you just pitched up for free in the fields around the town. Lots of free stuff going on in the town or you could pay for tickets to the concerts in the chateau.

Looking at the website it seems to be held at the Chateau D'Ars, between St Chartier and La Chaitre now. And camping's not free any more
