out in our van for first time and yesterdat had a kettle boiling through inverter socket, trumatic water heater was on and i turned the tap on. An alarm sounded on the inverter and the red light on trumatic started flashing, which i know means 12v too low. I switched evefything off. Today i notice the radio will not turn on, neither are there any lights wofking on trumatic, yet the outside light which was nit working before is now on and will not turn on! Inverter worked ok with kettle this morning. We have checked fuses down in locker and these seem ok, have taken out the light one! Does anyone have any idea what could have happened?

I'd never run a kettle from an inverter, you'll flatten the battery quickly and it will take an age to recharge.

What size inverter? is it wired across the habitation battery?

Sounds like you've blown a fuse somewhere and the system is trying to get a supply from somewhere. Similar proble if you get the rear light and indicator flashing together, it's usually a bad earth, so the current tries to make connection through another way.

Do you have a volt meter? If so you can see if the voltage has got as far as the heater.

If the radio is off, are you plugging the inverter into the cigarette lighter? If so, does that still work?

its a a 1800w inverter wired up to plug with fused spur. The kettle is a little one from camping shop, but looking at the base it says 750w. The radio is factory fitted in dash but seems to be wired into leisure batteries and you their is a switch in rear of van that turns it off. What i dont understand is why outside light has started working and wont switch off.
