What's the website called? Can't find it?

This my neck of the woods and I can vouch for the exceptional views from here.

Over my thirty years or so working around here I often stopped at Borwick Rails for dinner time. Million is a fine little town across the estuary from my home village of Askam in Furness and in common with Askam has a history of iron mining and iron and steel production. The area where the site is was all slag and also provided a very tidal quay to serve the iron works. Latterly a few ships were broken against that quay, HMS Ajax being the last I think.

Also very close to hand is the Hodbarrow nature reserve and the dunes of Haverigg a bit further west beyond the sea wall.

I’d like to think the owners will be content with keeping it small because across the estuary at Roanhead Farm moves are afoot to develop a large holiday lodge site which is very contentious locally. The planning application has attracted objections by the thousand from individuals like me and both national and international nature conservation organisations. Once it’s gone it’s gone.

However, places like this are to be welcomed because they give the opportunity for people to come and benefit from the peace and beauty of the estuary with very little impact.

Cheers

We looked a house there a few years back but there was an issue with access with a neighbouring property. Decided we couldn't be bothered going through any potential wrangle. Shame, as it is a lovely part of the country.
