Hi,
I am new to motorhomes, am picking up my first one (Elddis Sunseeker 25) in a weeks time and am planing our first wild camp the very next day (Dinas Dinlle). My question is what is the essential kit that I should get. I have px'ed my caravan so I have stuff that is common to both but what is specific to a motorhome. I have bought some leveling ramps already but I don't know about silver screens, hose pipes and what not. Looking for a bit of advice on what to get and in what order.

hi. hope you remember beer and wine they are the main essentials .you will learn as you go along what else to bring.matches windup torch.never used levelling blocks. good tow strap for getting towed off wet areas.but most of all have loads of fun.

you should have most things you will need ,as you have been used to going away in a caravan, shhh dont tell anyone i have said caravan .if you are wilding you will need to make shure your leasure battery is up to scratch cos you aint on a hook up when your wild .as been said dont forget the beer and wine gas to cook and have fun .you will soon pick up things you need that you dont have ,one of the nice bits of wilding in your van will be learning the ropes have fun

Hi Mike, Welcome to WC.
I suggest:- 2 Warning Triangles, Saftey vests, Orange or yellow for each person on board. If going abroad, Pair of Beam blenders. EHIC card when travelling abroad. Spare bulbs, Fan belt, Engine Oil, Anti freeze for topping up wiper container, Ramps for levelling, Tow rope, Power cable for charging. Cannot think of anything else at the moment, but I am sure others will add to this list to help you enjoy a trouble free journey. Have fun.

The most important thing is a few quid or credit card as most things can be bought if needed.
You also need to look at my web page as it has loads of places nearby, its a fantastic part of the world

Now if you need a site in this village
www.llanystumdwy.com
Some one has a field at the back of there house, its a really nice small site, not on the internet, just ask for the site on the other side of the river near the Cafe Dwyfor.
There is also a big 70 pitch site near the main road nice but not as good

Thanks for all your useful suggestions. Some of them had never occurred to me. Can't wait to get out and about and never paying for a site again.

Three Way Fridge

For Mrs Big its a three way fridge that works well on the gas so she can keep her ice cold!

Otherwise I would use the wee adventure to just test the kit, see how it all runs and start getting into your set up routine, youll be reet in no time!

enjoy

LED lighting, saves the battery, mind you, now the clocks have changed it's not so much of a problem.

Don't forget your passport as you come over the border!!!

If it all goes wrong, it's only 2 hrs home!!

Sure you'll have a great time

A visit to the airfield is great and the air museum is a must.

Try a flight round the straits or Snowdon, or for the best fun in the world, try a trial lesson in a microlight!!

I carry two hose pipes. A roll out one which is 25 metres and a small blue food grade 5 metre hose. Both have the standard Hozelock screw on connect which I think is 3/4 inch. You will know the sort of standard tap from using the caravan.

I also carry a spare 20 litre plastic water carrier with a tap. We fill the van and also keep the 20 litre spare by the sink for making tea etc. It gives us an extra day between fills and is useful if you cant get the van within reach of a tap when wilding.

a cheap watering can and various hose pipe ends/conections so you can get fresh water from any type of outlet, visit one of the larger poundshops there you will find gadgets galore at low prices.

In Africa women are sent for flipping miles to fetch water. Its about time they learnt to do it here I reckon!
