Phil,

Is it possible for members to upload manuals for vans, fridges cookers etc so that the info can be shared when someone is looking for info on old van etc.

Maybe made available to members only

It could become a useful resource

There's a couple of free PDF converters around so all it takes is a few hrs and a scanner to give whole manuals. Spread across the members, it wouldn't be too major a task.

Even if the poster doesn't understand the details, someone else will.

Would save trying to describe in words when a picture says it all

It would be a great idea but there are problems with copyright. We had this on another forum when it was suggested

Quite a lot of electronics/radio forums do it to get circuit diagrams, operating instructions etc.

They don't seem to have any issues.

I would imagine the companies would be glad to reduce the number of info requests they get.

Maybe just a weblink as the onus is on the host with copyright. Its rare that a manufacturer gets uppy about copyright on manuals, its people like Haynes who make their money out of selling manuals that seem to hunt down copyright infringers.

Of course the manuals could be hosted on a server in China or some Carribean islands to totally avoid any copyright or usefullness
