Moooo Moooo I'm a Bull

Thanks Jenny.
I just realised that my tank is full and my Spitfire has no antifreeze in it either so when my daughter gets home from Kent tonight she has her work cut out. Think I will leave a note for her and lock my bedroom door and pretend to be asleep.

I intend to take evasive action this year in an attempt to be able to still use the van through the cold weather.
I have set up the heater to the frost setting, so that the heater will come on when the temperature drops past 2 degrees.
Forgot to do it last winter and opened up the van to see icicles hanging from the taps.

Luckily no damage to pipes or heating system (especially as I didn't drain it down either).

Good point Kimbowbill.

Also don't forget to drain off your hot water heater tank and open your taps to depressurise the water system as well.

I did'nt last year and my carver cascade water heater tank froze and snapped the tie bar holding the tank on to the heater assembly.

The ice then thawed and flooded the van!! So I had to repair the heater and dry out soggy carpets.

We live and learn, it won't be happening to me this year as I've already done my tanks.

I have emptied the tanks and boiler and left the taps open including the valve, water pump is out of the tank too. If anything happens when I get back I will be sending PHIL the bill for repairs.☺☺☺

all these malaga type water heaters are VERY fragile, made of very thin ally castings,i cracked one just filling from the mains tap,so vital to empty.bit more leeway on piping and pumps as the pipes give a bit and water in the pumps can expand up the pipes, but still get out as much as poss
