I have an Elddis Aspire 240 2011 model and wondered if anyone else having one of these motorhomes have fitted a bike rack. Seems this motorhome has been designed without any thought for fitting a rear bike rack to the rear panel. The only option I have is to fit a tow bar then attach bike rack to this, but the costs are extreme just to carry a couple of bikes. Apparantly the new 2013 model has strengthening bars to enable fitting of a bike rack but this was not included in earlier models. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome, I have contacted Elddis but getting no response for over a week is poor.

Elddis have never been good at customer service.

My advice is to ring up an Elddis dealer and ask for a price for fitting. If it is not possible, they will tell you. if it is, they will know how.

Bike rack

I too have an Aspire but mine is the 255 model 2011.
The back panel is soft to the touch which I never realised at the time of purchase, only was aware of it after I too was thinking of having a bike rack attached.
I have just been in touch with my local dealer and he assures me one can be fitted.
Here’s their number if you would like to put your mind at ease.
01332 360222 option one if aqsked….

Thanks for the info gents, I have contacted my motorhome supplier who seem to be discouraging me from having the bike rack fitted and opting for the tow bar, they also want me to sign a disclaimer if I opt for the rear wall fitting.

Got a reply from Elddis but not what I wanted, cannot believe a motorhome designed in 2011 would not be capable of carrying a bike.

With reference to your email requesting advice on the fitting of a cycle rack on your 2011 Aspire 240 motorhome.
There is no provision in the rear panel of the 2011 Aspire 240 motorhome to fit a cycle rack and a tow bar would be the option on this occasion.
I respectfully suggest you contact your Elddis service centre who will advise on the appropriate tow bars available.

With this sort of service it's no wonder foreign vans are so popular.
