EHIC Renewal Scam

There are Websites for Passports and I found one the other day for visa's for Turkey. They were charging £30 instead of the £12 that it should be. Just middle men hoping to catch the unsuspecting web user .. At least you didn't pay ..

Same for visa (ETA) applications for Australia. They are free on the Australia house website but if you Google Aussie visas there about 6 websites before the official one. All of those will charge you.

It is not a scam just exploiting the unwary and trusting people like a lot of businesses do these days.

My passport is due for renewal so I googled to find out how best to renew and there are sites that you can phone at £1.53 per minute that will explain everything – some people must fall for it.

this is everywhere-I just bought a tablet and within the day a warning came onscreen that the tablet had been infected with a Trojan virus ! had us worried, but it's just a scam to get you to buy the maker's anti virus !

Our EHIC cards expire in March. I just googled EHIC renewal and got this web site:

https://www.europeanhealthcard.org.uk/

I was merrily filling it in and when I got to the end they wanted £25!

I smelt a rat and went back and found the NHS site and did it for free!

Apply for a free EHIC card - Healthcare abroad - NHS Choices

Phew!
John

You were lucky, I was in a rush and I stupidly paid, before I remembered it should be free. I searched everywhere for a "cancel transaction" "I've changed my mind" option/button but couldn't find one. Since I really needed the card quickly I let it go through in the end but complained to trading standards. The card did arrive as promised.

It's so annoying... got stung the other day lost my drivers license... I was on what I thought the dvla.gov site!!! Checked £20 replacement..Ok completed form... next step pay... first attempt didn't go thru... tried again... got hit for £80! Drivers license.org.UK sent me a generated dvla form, note... add £20 made to dvla with recent photo. I wrote to dvla.. replied they not responsible for a refund, as I used a third party.....still feel robbed! Bunch of scammers!

Exploiting the unwary is scamming, and the perpetrators should be charged with fraud. I have not been caught but do get pissed of fighting my way through those scam sites to get to the proper ones
