How far out are you willing to travel from? We live about a 40 minute train ride away, we often have motorhomes parked up by the beach. It’s a nice spot.

Newcraighall Park and Ride do not have a height barrier. All the other P&Rs have height barriers, except the one at Ingliston, where overnighting is not allowed. Not stopped at Newcraighall myself but its supposed to be OK. EH21 8RB. N55.933765 W3.092845

I wonder if you can bypass the height barriers by taking the road the bus goes in and out? Not used one for ages and can't recall if the parking and the bus road are actually seperated by any kerbing or barriers once in the park. (It is very annoying having those barriers!)

@Biggarmac , do you know if the NEC Scot Card can be used on the Park & Ride? (I think so, but not sure for sure)

The normal concessionary cards can be used on the buses from Newcraihall , but not on the trains. Not sure if that covers the NEC card as I'm not sure what that is! Concession cards from outside Edinburgh are not valid on the Edinburgh trams.

I have left my van during the day at Silverknowes golf club car park and taken the bus from there (several routes and very frequent) into town. I have seen vans left overnight there so it may be worth giving the golf club a call.

NEC = National Entitlement Card (National as in Scotland, not UK of course!). I guess maybe was the same as the concessionary card in the past?

Probably. Just looked at mine. It sayes "Saltire Card" no mention of National Entitlement card, but in the small print it mentions concessionary card. The powers that be are out to confuse us by changing the names.

Yup.... "Saltire Card" on the front. Orange "C" bottom right which apparently means Concession and the NEC bit is on the reverse on mine.

You can park unrestricted on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The Grange area is good. Oswald Road, Grange Terrace.

Assuming you want a Park and ride for a bit more security ?
Because central Edinburgh parking zone is not actually that big .
Lots of spaces and places

I was going to stop in or around Edinburgh over night on my way to Aberdour, travelling from the midlands..any suggestions.

How about this on street?

Cheers

Carrington road is a good suggestion , next to police HQ
You can park almost anywhere after 6.30pm in the city centre . Obviously have to be away , or feed meter , by 8.30am
Portobello is another place lots of parking by the sea
