Edinburgh cancelled.

Not surprised given the forecast. Torch light parade was cancelled last night.

Think all the UK parties were cancelled a number of years ago . As I remember Edinburgh cancelled at last minute .
Still had pub at the time and normally went dead when party started . Suddenly got rammed for several hours .🥳

Awful news for the city and all those revellers from all over. Still, I am sure they will manage to have a good time. We only ever did it once in the early 90s. Four days in a hotel. Had a great time. Wouldnt fancy it now though.

Most people are here now so the party will be in the pubs . Publicans will be happy , unusual occurrence historically

Yep. Although from what I can gather even pubs were ticketed entrance in recent years. Presumably most will have tickets to the pubs. I hope it all works out.

I think only within the party area Barry.
Put on food and entertainment years ago and sold tickets . Council then said you couldn't charge. They then started charging admission.

I’m only 6miles from Edinburgh city centre and this morning’s dog walk involved a couple of new burn crossings. Pretty horrendous weather here.

Not a good start to the new year but! "Bliadhna ur mhath" (a happy new year) from Inveraray to everyone and hope its a good one ...well once the weather improves!

Nevertheless, there was plenty of indoor free music on New Year's day. We got to listen to Karine Polwart in St Giles and another folk band in Greyfriars Kirk (Inc teas and coffees and traybakes @ £1.50!!). Plenty other venues too. Thanks, I think, to Edinburgh Council funding it all.
