Hi, I have a Delta 3. I wish to use the 12v dc out socket (cigerette socket) to act as emergency power supply to the motorhome fridge. I was going to hard wire the supplied lead to my leisure batteries. As these batteries are also charged with a roof mounted solar set up (175W) would this be an issue? I was concerned that there maybe a back feed to the Delta from the Victron solar controller.
Running our fridge in the recent heatwave caned the twin battery setup as the fridge was running constantly, to save the batteries from dropping below 12.0 volts I connected a standalone 4 amp battery charger to see us through the night. It then dawned on me that there must be an easy way to access the 12v power from the Delta3 box rather than convert it to 240, then back to 12 again.
Yes I know I should have big Litiums etc, but I dont have the budget at the moment.

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

Not sure I've got this right so lets start at the beginning
The fag socket on the Delta 3 should run the fridge, take a cable from the a fag adaptor and wire to the fridge direct. Make sure there is only 1 power supply to the fridge at any time.

The supplied lead with the Delta 3 is a fag plug to an XT60 you can get a female XT60 to 2 wire connection for the fridge.

You can the run a similar XT60 Male to twin cable to the fag socket in the van, then while the engine is running it will charge the Delta.

Its not the best way to achieve both these things BUT it will be within budget.
