Ebay solar power trickle charger - any good for you?

It looks like your advice is too late as he said he'd ordered one :rolleyes:

I think many of us have bought one of these at some time, I got one from Maplins for about a fiver years ago. They will just about keep your battery going flat if the van is left standing for a while (if you are lucky) don't expect to get any sort of meaningful charge out of it.
 
I have an 8 watt Maplin jobby that I use for the van battery. I would think that this size is about the minimum you would need as it keeps mine topped up through the winter.

1.5 watt would just about keep your ipod and mobile phone charged up. At £9.99 you are not being robbed. :D
 
I would advise placing such a small panel outside of the vehicle as the power is reduced substantially by glass - a lot more if it's tinted.
 
This has been discussed recently.
General opinion is that they aren't much good.
I bought one from Maplins and found it too weak to keep the vehicle battery topped up.
Should have saved my money.

yes i had one the only thing that was of use was the cable and croc clips

Too late ....it is in the post (allegedly) ..we will see just how much of a waste of money it really is. Will report my findings.;)
 
solar panal

we have a solar panel from maplin and found that it really does works its like a briefcase just open up and plug in we wild camp for about 6 to 7 weeks at a time and the solar panel keeps leisure battery charged all that time we run t.v. of it as well best investment yet for van

Can i ask what the wattage of that is? Sounds ideal for my usage.

OP, i've got one like the one you've ordered. I dont know if the panel is responsible, but my main (starter) battery has just started my van after being sat for 18 months.
