hi has any one got a motorhome with the eberspacher blown air heating and hot water requirments from such a unit i believe these are worked from the diesel engine itself any feedback from this wud be most appreiciated r they loud and noisy as suggested many thanks Howard & Irene

Eberspacher

We've got a blown air heating system, not bothered with hot water. Yes they can be noisy when they restart in the night if you have a thermostat fitted. Very warm though. Last Christmas we used 12 litres of diesel for 15 nights(We have a separate tank) This was in Scotland!!

I use an eberspacer but is 12 volt and runs from a seperate diesel tank....warms the van up lovely and is cheap to run.....npise as never bothered me but I guess it is noisier on the outside

I had a Mercedes V-Class that had an eberspacher that heated the engines water and turned the vehicles heater on.

My Mom has a Narrow boat that has an eberspacher that heats the water for the radiators.

In both cases you cannot really hear the heater from inside, the eberspacher on the v-class is mounted underneath on the outside and has an exhaust with silencer.

If you had enough space for a small radiator in the vehicle maybe this would be a better system than warm air.

the eberspacher heater is noisy, but they come with a silencer on,

I often use the Eberspacher when overnighting in the truck. The noise from the heater of the truck parked next door always seems louder than my own and from what I hear of Motorhomes these heaters do occasionally draw complaints from your nieghbours when used on site.

hi there

I fitted an esbspacher water central heating system to my van, I don,t think they are make that has much noice as people say, maybe the water systems our better then just air. The heater is placed in the engine bay along the crossmember. I find it much better then gas warn air.
Heats both the motorhome and gives hot water, you need a very battery thoe, start up takes a lot of power.

Terry,

We've been using the Eberspacher D2 Airtronic now for three and a half years and I think the noise problem is a bit of an urban myth usually passed on by people who have never heard one. We are always very conscious of where we park and use it. We have often asked neighbours about the noise but have never had any adverse comments.

When they first become popular they were banned from some sites in Spain & France where there were tent campers. I think the exhaust fumes were the problem.

heater

Hi, yes I think you are correct, I started the heater on a test bed before fitting into place, and I did not even hear it start up. I doo think that the water types do make less noice, But what ever it beats gas systems anyday.

luxury

in the dim and distant past amongst jobs too numerous to mention ( boring boring ) i was a long distance HGV driver with one of these gizmos in situ. the thing that i like best about it was that it was thermostatically controlled or you could fire it up on a timer in the morning ! it was wonderful to wake up at 6am to a warm cab whilst all those around me were endeavouring to scrape ice f4rom their windscreens ! where did that 4 come from !! i think that i have just talked myself into having one fitted to the auto traail prior to going to see the northern lights next year.

northen lights

Hi L. Both my partner and I are planing to see the northern lights and do a bit of whale watching, and I hope some deep water fishing. We are looking at two trips to norway next year, the first being in may time maybe until end of june. The 2nd from 1st oct to end of nov. We need to return to the UK then due to our two dogs needing their passports stamped yet again.

Would be interested in knowing your plans. We are looking at advanced booking for the 1st trip, and just trucking up to an end point, ie camp site on the second. I understand that there is know wild camping allowed in summer in norway.
hope to hear from you. terry

Hi Terry,

Have free parked in Norway without any problems. It's easier in the north than the south. There are a few aires about as well.

hi don

Hi Don, do you have some information on these sites.I have looked hard on the web and come up with nothing, would cut the bills down, and I hate camp sites during the summer to many kids. God I am getting old. terry

Terry,

The Aires are called "Bobil Parks" in Norway, the are for motorhomes only and they are not free. The only ones I know are at Alessund (Used in 2000), Kristiansund and Oslo. We used one in Bergen but I'm not sure whether it's still open.

The further north you go the easier it is to free park.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Don

Thanks

Thanks, any help is good, and the correct name allows me have a look on the web. Thanks again, terry
