e-Books

Afternoon all

Does anyone have a copy of the Twilight Saga (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse & Breaking Dawn) on their e-reader that they would be prepared to share with me? Amazon tend to lock their books or licence them, and I have never been able to work out how to get them open, including using Calibre, so any other format would be perfect.

I know, but its a girl thing !!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheryl

Unfortunately you are a free member so no one can send you a private message. Could I suggest you try searching for 'Twilight Saga Torrent'. If you don't know what a torrent is or how to use it, you can also search for information on that too.

Great, I'm glad it worked...

Ive got over 1,000 e-books on my laptop but I wasn't sure if they were transferable...

ask away...if I've got it I'd be happy to share them with fellow wildcampers...

@ Tony...if you have an amazon account you can download the Kindle reader for PC or Laptop for FREE from the amazon website...I get books for my laptop and read them of an evening when I'm at home or camping...my wife has a Kindle too.

Amazon also give away e-books for free at http://www.ereaderiq.co.uk/free/ you just download them and they are automatically updated in your laptop kindle reader.

THANK YOU so very very much AuldTam. I have downloaded them and put them on my Kindle and they all open! You are a real Star

Tony - an e-Book is an electronic book that you load onto an e-reader i.e. Sony Reader, Kindle, Pocket Book IQ etc.

Cheryl

not very good at this tried to download the kindle free reader for my mac but can't do it help

Hi Polly

Just checking, you did download the correct app for your mac didn't you? I know that my windows laptop sometimes jumps and I end up with the wrong download. I suggest that you delete it, restart your mac and then try downloading it again and see if its any better.

Let us know how you get on.

I dont use a mac but it should be similar to windows...for a mac type kindleformac on the amazon search bar and go to getting started there you can just click on...download now...and it will save the installation program to the folder you use for downloads...go to your downloads folder then just click the file and it should install automatically...

There is only one problem with uploading files to the forum....if they are copyright material then Phil is responsible for allowing their distribution and I imagine he will delete them pronto...if they link to your hosting then you may have a problem with all the latest problems being caused about copyright material. Today in the news it's announced that certain Internet providers have been ordered by the court to block user access to thepiratebay.se (from Sky News)....which is a site that facilitates file sharing.#

Unfortunately this forum is also indexed by the search engines like most others so the information is readily seen in the public domain.

You'll also hear books in pdf (portable document format) form referred to as ebooks, Tony.

I'm not sure if Kindle uses pdf format too as I don't have one.

(Personally speaking, I wouldn't post links to copyright material, or discuss ways how to get it illegally. It's an open forum, and you don't know who is reading. Also people with a lot of posts could have their post history scanned and really, many of us are far from anonymous, having posted details of our vans etc. So you put yourselves (and the forum) at risk)

To the best of my knowledge the Kindle only uses .mobi files, while other similar readers use .epub format....however a free program called Cailbre will happily convert most ebook formats to others or make one for you from ordinary text.

If you have the time to scan one you can convert it to a .pdf, and in turn make it into an eBook.

Please do not post links to pirated material or media on this website.
