DVSA to target campers this weekend

It seems to suggest that because the sale of motorhomes has risen, caravans will be stopped for checks.
Very sloppily writtten.

Mobile workshop and tools, there is a fortune to be had getting folk on their way again. ;)

I'm all for it especially with the amount of newbies on the road who have recently entered the caravanning/motorhoming world and may not know about even loads and payloads etc.
It's the old foggies who took their test years ago and think they know it all thats worst most of the newbies have had to take an extra test to tow and drive over 3.5 so had it all explained to them

I go at 60mph on the Motorways and I have lost count of the number of caravans that have passed me. A number not just creeping past but bombing past!
I am on motorways most days and I am often overtaken by people towing trailers, caravans etc and often they will be in the in the third lane.
I was starting to think that rules had changed for towing on motorways

I always had a capable car when I was a tugger but the caravan was probably overloaded with the amount of stuff the wife and kids insisted we take with us. As Trev said a good stabiliser and good properly inflated tyres are very important and it’s important the caravan is loaded properly with the correct nose weight.

Nobody here uses a breakaway cable or has fog lights on caravans, in fact many dont have the anti wagel damping unit fitted, some have gran and grandad or kids in the caravans peering out the back windows.
Do they do a breakaway fitting for a ponie's tail?

Just came across this so watch your weight
if you take a good look around the government are all out to get money back into the state in Leicester where i live i have never seen so many traffic wardens around on top of this all of the speed cameras have been put back into use. private parking authorities clamping and cars with police aware stickers on them is unbelievable. looks like they are on a large money spinner!

Brittan is turning into a Nazy state, with no parking, clamping, mobiles being monitored, Alexa, smart tv listening in, free speech stopped, trade unions and protests etc all no longer allowed, democracy is only ever returned at the end of a gun barrel, time folk wakened up before its too late as there is a new world order on its way.

Game over Trev. They didn't wake up, why would they, they don't even know they're asleep.

It certainly seems to be aimed mainly at caravans. I found the last part of the article about campervan sales interesting VW California sales up 621% is staggering.

I know it has been said before, but there could be a lot of cheap campers/motorhomes around next year.

That's why mine will be up for sale in the next few months, strike while the iron is hot.

I past a guy last night, who was heading north up the M6. He had managed to drag his caravan into the hard shoulder. He had lost his nearside wheel of his caravan.
