Bi-annual oil change on my Ducato 2012 X250 2.3 every 10K miles
Most service info online indicates 6.5 litre to change.
Drain down and remove oil filter, leave over lunch to full drain . Return and add 6 litres, 5l can + 1l can. run engine check dipstick (No on dash display on this one) OVERFILLED!
Check again in the morninig , yep over filled. Drain out just over a litre and now indicates full on dipstick.
Wish my memory was better :D same as last time. I am hoping now I've written this I will remember next time! and others may interested too.
But I did remember the oil filter that the parts people say it needs are always wrong too, it the other bigger one.

"To change oil in the FIAT Ducato III Van (250, 290) 130 Multijet 2,3 D Diesel 131 hp, you'll need 6.5 L of motor oil.

Engine oil for Fiat Ducato 250 130 Multijet 2,3 D 131 hp Diesel ...

AUTODOC UK"

I hope you filled the oil filter before fitting, if you dont the engine will start on dry bearings, iv seen garages not do this common mistake.
A little bit of overfill wont do any harm as most engines burn a bit to the oil settles in, 1/4 litre wont do any harm.

I never just put the recommended quantities in, i ALWAYS fill slowly and use the dipstick.

My oil comes in 4L containers so i put one straight in and then approx 1L out of the second container, wait a while check then start adding slowly.

Yes, it takes a while to do especially with a quick run of the engine once it shows as up to the minimum fill mark but there`s other things to do whilst you are waiting.

Like trevskoda says i normally overfill slightly and it does no harm.

103,00 miles now and running great.

From memory it's usually 5.5L to fill a x250 2.3 engine despite what the book figure is. I took the van to a "Fiat (un)Professional" garage for it's first service, the £$@%'s charged for 4x2L bottles of oil.

About 7.5 ltrs for my iveco 2.8 donkey, oil ment to be 15/40 mineral, i run here on 10/40 semi sinthetic at £20 a 4/5 ltr can.
Always fill the filter up before fitting.

That concurs, fortunately I only had to discard 1 l of oil unlike the Professional's 2.5 l of no doubt expensive oil ;) !?

Now due to health issues I can no longer lie under a vehicle to do my own servicing and my access to a pit went years ago..I have to pay a garage..
Last month it was £305 for a full service including vat (which I can no longer reclaim)

Me to one of theses helps
They dont get all the cr-p and any metals which are at the bottom of the sump, also most sump plugs are nagnetic and show up any problems.

My 22 reg Ducato handily has no dipstick (whoever thought getting rid of that is a smart move?) I had the "overfull" warning after serving (no guidance on capacity) so in limp mode back to the garage. A right P I T.A.

Thats whats worrying me when I can't DIY anymore I've already gone through the not claiming VAT back period 😕

Yes, oil change on mine always just needs 5l (with filter pre-filled).

That's drained on a flat surface.
