I have been vaguely looking at vans that have been advised on the web Locally although unable to view because of lockdown,it appears that there is a huge drop in value I except that they are always many thousands more expensive over here than in the U.K. but unless when viewed they are in bad condition I have seen asking prices dropped by many thousands in the last month is this the same in U.K.?

Supply and demand. This will change after the pandemic and demand for motorhomes renews.

I would see demand - and therefore prices - for motorhomes increase a fair bit once people are allowed to start using them again.

There will for a long time still be fear and worry about being in close proximity to others so holidaying in your own space and being able to keep a distance will be a big thing for a great number of people - and a motorhome is one of the best ways to achieve that.

The fear won’t finish until a vaccine is developed and we all receive it.
However an economic meltdown like we have never seen will develop.
But to a greater extent retired people and people near retirement will probably suffer the least. And generally speaking that’s who tend to buy most Motorhomes.

I think a lot of that will depend on what happens to to peoples pensions and how quick they recover. They have taken a beating.

I've just had a letter from my pension scheme saying that I have been given a 3.3% rise which I really wasn't expecting.

I would think many schemes will collapse though, so if mine does then at least I took it early and have had some benefit from it. Plus, I am still young enough to do a few years work, and I don't mind doing a bit of fruit picking!

Provided you are over normal retirement age you should be covered by the Pension Protection Fund, though there are caps and annual increases will be less. Lower payments are still due if below nra.

Its difficult to give a like to a post about peoples pensions collapsing that have worked all their lives and done the right thing for them but i know what you mean.

I Wonder how many dealers will survive. Even when the lock down finishes there are bound to be travel restrictions in place and this may effect the elderly more than the young who are not generally motorhome users or buyers. I have been planning on replacing our van for years but never managed to. Probably just as well for the time being. Soon as I can though I will be as the south of France beckons but seems a long way off right now.

Can’t see where you’re from. I guess it all depends how desperate you are for a quick sale??

Doesn't take much imagination to work out this is going to be inevitable, and not just for mohos

Even so, I've noticed that some of the Laika mohos I was following last year still haven't sold and they are still asking the original prices :rolleyes:
Dream on, perhaps?

Think a lot of people still won't have got their heads around the hardline reality of the situation we're facing now

I'm more worried about how the price of food is going to be affected....😒

They are probably not updating their websites as they are closed Marie.

When I checked our shares about 2 weeks ago they had fallen around 12%. The FTSE 100 had dropped about 28%. It is only a loss on paper to us as we have no plans to sell any shares. I had planned to and to get another car but there is nothing on the market as suitable as what we presently have. I am not complaining because we have had a much better increase over keeping money in a Bank Account and even now we are still ahead of the game.

These were mostly private sales, Jim.
