Drop-down bed problem

The manually operated drop-down bed in my Swift Escape 604 is stuck in the down position. The push button which connects to the hydraulic gas struts will not depress.
I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem and could suggest a solution?

Not familiar with the Swift version but other drop downs we have use a turn button and cable system which when turned releases or engages the side pins holding the bed position. Suggest you lift the mattress and see what the mechanism is.

Thank you for your suggestion.
I will have a look.

Have you tried taking up the weight of the bed before attempting to push in the button?

A couple of videos here:

This one basically describes the operation of the bed.

This one is by an owner and describes a few precautions that he takes when operating the bed, including safety features that may not have been fitted on early beds..

Is it possible that the issue is with the gas struts having lost some or all of their gas? For example, has the bed been getting heavier to lift recently?

Thank you - I do take the weight off before trying to lift but this time the button is not going in. It may be to do with the gas struts.
I have booked it into the garage this week so hopefully they will be able to sort it. I can then be the drop-down bed specialist!
