Just spent an hour or so trying to make sense of the DVLA website with regard to a specific question and still no wiser.

I am considering doing a bit of coach driving, part time, to help finance the travelling in our van when I retire in about two years time. The work I do as a cabler for BT requires me to hold C+E, which I've had for over twelve years. The question is, how do I go about getting the category D licence from this starting point?

Someone told me a couple of weeks ago that I could drive PCV on my current licence, but I can't see anything to confirm this on the DVLA website.

I'm confident you good people will,as ever, have the definitive answer;)

Cheers

Harold

Though so

That's what I suspected.

Still quite like the idea of having your 'cargo' load and unload itself though:)

Whilst your on to the DVLA ask them to sort out their records NON system and reinstate my full Motorcycle License Entitlement.
Seriously though if requested to post off your existing license don't...... send copies and/or advise of it's loss and if necessary "find" it when convenient to yourself.

hi c+e allows a mechanic to drive one .not for hire or reward . but you will have to take the test.
i used to get lots work on agency .with c+e , bigger you go you dont do loading or unloading . cant remember last time i unloaded an artic. .give it in now . have d+e but cant stand the customers these days .to be honest i did sewage tankers for years . every one is your friend they never complain what time you get there and are always nice to you. other than sling a few pipes around you cant have much to do . another one was milk tankers .cant unload them by hand either. cheers alan.
