If you are getting heat from the exhaust then its likely that you have either a blockage in the coolant, or you have lost coolant, or the thermostat is not working.

Coolant blockage is usually fixed by removing the fridge and turning upside down for a few days, giving it a shake now and then, reinstall and fire up.

Coolant loss will be indicated by yellow powdery deposits around the piping, its terminal and needs to be regassed and/or a new plumbing system installed - often cheaper to buy a new fridge!!

Thermostat not working is harder to check without appropriate test tools - initially look for "dry" connectors which stop the 12V circuit working properly - just take each connector off in turn and re-seat it. Sometimes works, not when connected to mains power though.

This website has the service manuals available Dometic refrigerators - Download Dometic Manuals

Thanks for the tips Roger, I'm going to take it out and have good look this weekend.
