In May 2023 I purchased a new Dometic 5 series absorption fridge, from Swordcrown Caravans Ltd at Colyford in Devon. While away in Cumbria in April 2024 the fridge stopped working. I informed Swordcrown Caravans who instructed Devon Leisure caravan Services to do the Warrantee repair( fridge has a 3 year warrantee so this was the nominated local repairer) so I returned home to Devon as our trip was over.
Devon Leisure at first were reluctant to do the repair, but after a number of weeks I had a txt that the part(new cooling unit) had arrived so a engineer came and took the fridge away giving me the impression it would be returned the following week. After numerous calls and txt I got a reply that they not completed the warranty claim correctly so they had to apply again also the part was now out of stock. Devon Leisure stopped replying the my calls and txt. Swordcrown Caravans were also reluctant to help even though I reminded them as the seller it was their responsibility.
I emailed Dometic warrantee department who informed me they would not replace the fridge as it was repairable, but that model of fridge itself was no longer being produced, but after a few months they informed me they didn't know when the part would be manufactured and they could issue Swordcrown caravans with a credit note for a replacement fridge. or a refund
I emailed Swordcrown the details of the above instructions along with the new model of fridge I would like, but I heard nothing from them, so I went to the small claims court with a view to taking them to court.
After 8 months of numerous calls, txt and emails to all concerned, I got a email from the warrantee department and they offered me a new fridge which I excepted and it arrived in 10 days from Germany.
I will never use Swordcrown Caravans or Devon Leisure caravan services again and would not recommend them to other members
