fridge not working on gas what is the best way ,to take the fridge out so that i can repair, i dont want to damage the units its fitted in a compass avangarde 200

Do you know the reason for it not working on gas? As a newby Motorhomer five years ago ( still feel like a newby now sometimes) .i thought my fridge wasn’t working on the gas turned out to be because the van wasn’t level, which I didn’t know it had to be , you live and learn , I’m still learning. I keep thinking I’ll take the vents off and give it a clean but I’m not brave enough I’ll probably make it worse . Hope you manage to fix it .

i want to clean out the burner, fridge works on electric, just want to know how to get at it:cool1:

As hairydog said it is better to do it through the vent, if you have a bottom vent remove it and you should get access to the burner, if not then you will have to remove the fridge, my Hymer does not have a removeable bottom vent (it has a large mesh vent in the floor) but I can access the burner by removing the bumper and there is a small plate which can be removed, it is a bit like keyhole surgery but saves a lot of work

Some you can get to via vent others you cant if the latter disconnect the gas pipe from bottom vent. Inside remove fascia and a bottom baton too ,,,and gently remove the fridge watching floor coverings ( and fingers ) disconnect electrics and make a note on top of the fridge once out you have access to the burner assembly

At this stage not a bad idea to turn fridge uoside down to re agitate the gas

Could you provide a bit more detail please. You say it's not working on gas.

Does it not ignite at all?
Does it ignite but not stay lit?
Does it ignite, stay lit but not get cold?

I've just had the same, ignites and bottom pipe gets hot, but not cooling inside fridge, couple of days ago at home it was fine on mains, I did notice there was no 'roar' when gas first lit, when I get home I need to look at it, been to busy with family stuff at moment.

Changed the burner on ours in the last fortnight and it is a much better fridge. A new burner with ready fitted jet for our Dometic N145 was around £25 from ishop 24 on Ebay and I changed it through the bottom vent cover. The thing now burns with a clean blue flame and does ''roar'' on ignition.

Cheers

inverting the fridge re earlier post should assist that certainly wont do any harm)

If you clean burner too, and the flue you should cover all bases makes sense too if you remove the fridge

If you search recent threads (during the heat wave) Hairy Dog posted a very comprehensive list of how to sort this.
I followed that and my fridge is far better now.

I had the same trouble & I can't access the burner through the vents, so have to pull the bugger out, done it so many times, I could do it blindfolded.

On our older vans a certain amount of shale? tends to build up in the gas pipes & driving on our pot holed roads shakes it down to the burner & partially blocks the jet. I use a strand of fine copper wire to clear it.

Recently I disconnected the pipe at the Thermostat, tied a bit of cloth at the burner end & blasted 200psi of compressed air down the pipe, amazing how much shite was in that pipe

Well I now know mine must be the jet and/or flue, drove 1/2hr down the road to Healeys to stock up on Rattler and the plates had frost on them.
