I was hoping too do a trip to Ireland June into July leaving from cairnryan coming back through rosslair then on too the Dorset meet but I’m not sure about a pet passport for the dog. She’s 15 pretty frail so not keen on her getting jags for travelling don’t think she could stand it.

Cheers Terry I don’t get that if I’m travelling Into Northern Ireland from Scotland part of the uk and then crossing into Southern Ireland where there is no border checks all a bit grey. I suppose I would need to stick to the EU rules because of my route out of Ireland if I wanted to keep things right. So that looks like my trip to Ireland is kaput.

You need an up to date rabies vaccine and an Animal Health Certificate even for Northern Ireland. If your dog has had a rabies jab in the last three years, she’d be ok. You also need a worming treatment given between 120 hours and 24 hours before arrival in Ireland so rather than getting the AHC in the 10 days before travel, it would make sense to get it in the 5 days before you go.

Not long back from Ireland, costs a lot less for the pet passport as well.

The wee dug is too old to be getting jagged and messed about wae vets. I’ll just change my plans we usually leave her with a friend if we go away for long periods but we don’t want to leave her this year as we would hate it if anything happened to her and we weren’t there in her final days. She’s never been abroad so never had any jags for travel. Theres more chance of catching something from me

Thanks for that Ken. Wonder if it’s the same coming out from Rosslare to England ?

probably not wully but plenty to see up north get the return ferry back belfast to holyhead rather than fishguard only about 60 mls in it

it’s like all the ****** remoaners looking for problems that don’t shouldn’t exist

But - even to go into NI you need the rabies vaccine, worming treatment, and AHC (or passport if you have a valid one) - @Wully please read the link in post #4

Think that’s what I’ll do Ken I’ll have the ferry booked tonight if I faff about any longer I won’t do it. Look out Trev I'm coming your way

We've taken our dog to Ireland 3 or 4 times ever had to show pet passport even though he was booked on the ferry never had to visit a vet either .he has a pet passport and have used it when visiting the continent .I belive Ireland is a rabies free country so no chance of bringing it back to england

I’ve been told from a good source to bring plenty biscuits I’ll do a run on the Tunnocks factory before I leave.

Ah Trev, our first stop after landing in NI, and our first encounter of the NI biscuit pillaging crew. Things have advanced from the cattle raiding days!

Wully, I'm on good terms with Sir Boyd Tunnock due to my St Abbs project, let me know what you need?
