Doggy problem

My lawfull bed- and copilote has put it her mind to drag me to to Venice, before it sinks away into the sea.
Problem is we have 2 Jack-Russels.(or the other way around )
Or we overnight in the expensive (and thieves paradise) of the parking La Tronchetta in Venice. Or, which I like more, we park up at Punta Sabbioni and take the 'vaporetto'boat to Venice. But, I know dogs are not allowed on Italian busses. Does anyone know this also aplies for the boats, or should we swim ?

If the Italians are anything like the Spanish I would slip the driver a few Euro and I am sure he will allow dogs :D

Put the dogs in harnesses, carry a white stick and wear dark glasses, put a sign around the dogs' necks "Cane Guida".

You can fool some of the people...........

Dogs are allowed in italian public transport, even on the vaporetto, but the have to wear a muzzle.

But dont worry - when I entered the vaporetto with my 100 lbs black dog
I had been advised to fix the muzzle. I tried it with a "Dr. Mugford Halti Headcollar" and it had been accepted without a problem on our round trip
to the other islands (Murano etc) and the journey back to Punta Sabb.

Happy sailing:p

Remember to get his protection up to date, my dog died of an infected tic bite in Italy last year, good trip.

Sorry to hear that
Ticks are a nuissance last years. I don't remember ever heard of it in the days we where (much) younger and camping mid in nature. Thanks for the warning. I hope our dogs are protected against it with 'Advantix'. Even for humans they can give nasty infections.
Thanks,
Leo

The most importand danger in southern Europe (Italie, France, Spain)
is the sand fly, which carry the infection of Leishmaniose.
The onlyprotection aganist the sand fly is (to my knowledge) the protection collar SCALIBOR, which is mainly used there. Advantix etc. wont work against
sand flies.
Scalibor will need 4 weeks on the dog to develop its full protection. We are using it for years and also we never had a tick our dog.
