I have never used the Stabiliser legs, but was wondering how many members use them and their thoughts.

Get a Movano or Master based van... the suspension is forgiving on the road and rock solid when stationary. Ideal for motorhomes.

Anyway, I thought stabilisers were for kiddy's bikes :D

Only once in Bourg d'Oissans in the Alps when I thought the van was goind to blow over:eek:

I do not know why they bother fitting them on my van. It is very stable with the tag axle.

They are probably seized up now.

I use them if I can when parked up, my van has a garage with the bed above. This makes quite a long overhang. I am also plated to the max for my van at 3850 kg & carry a motorbike in the garage + inflatable canoe & 2 electric bikes. I think it largely depends on your type of van & loading as to whether you need jacks or not. decided what I need is a bigger van with a larger payload

Had them fitted to our van when we bought it. Makes an enormous difference to the stability when parked up.

I only use stabilizers on site,,, you never know when you need a quick getaway when wilding, I had a Bedford CF coachbuilt before my Kon-Tiki, now this van could rock and it didn't have them!! made you feel right sea sick,,,,,,,,,,is this where the term Land yacht :boat: comes from?

Our Kontiki doesnt have any at least if it does Ive never found them.

I slept on a boat for 5 years so even in a gale the van rocks less than the old boat did!

Depends on where we are, but have used them on occasions as we have quite a long overhang, then have to leave the winding handle attached to the steering wheel so I don't forget them :mad1:

Almost word for word!
Our 'van has a 2m overhang, and we have used the stabilisers on occasions when we are on a long 'stay' and also leave the winding handle sat behind the steering wheel in front of the instruments as a reminder. :drive:

Ditto also leave marker on gear stick if roof vent open.

Only use them when on site for more than a few days. We NEVER use them when wilding in case of having to leave in a hurry- I already have enough to do making myself decent without winding up steadies!!

I avoid using them so I can make a swift exit if need be (that sounds BAD!) but used them once at Withernsea lighthouse - it was VERY windy!! Otherwise rarely necessary
